For five years, Interpharma ambassadors have been out and about in German and French-speaking Switzerland to engage in dialogue with an interested public and show how research and development work, how patients benefit from new medicines and what contribution the pharmaceutical industry makes to Switzerland’s economy. The ambassadors are available as guest speakers at regional organizations, associations, institutions and companies in the areas of healthcare, business and education. In 2018, a total of XXX appearances were organized, mostly at service clubs. Feedback shows that these guest appearances are appreciated. “The presentation was more than good, it was very good. Presentations like this are absolutely to be recommended. The discussion that followed was really fascinating,” wrote the Kiwanis Club Köniz, in their feedback, for example.

For these appearances, Interpharma provides company representatives with module presentations. It is left to the speakers to adapt these basic presentations to suit their individual needs. Presentations are available on the following four themes:

  • Research and development

  • Benefit of medicines

  • Economic importance

  • Partnership, taking the topic of rare diseases as an example

In addition, these ambassadors have at their disposal six short clips, which they can use if necessary. These clips address the topics of value added, locations, relations with the EU, pricing of medicines, cancer mortality and rare diseases.

In 2018, two training sessions were held with Farner Consulting AG, where the interested representatives of member companies could familiarize themselves with the module presentations and practise their presentation skills. The Speakers Hub currently comprises around 40 ambassadors from 15 member companies. They represent various functions and areas of pharmaceutical companies, from managing directors through medical directors to communications managers. The programme will be continued in 2019.
